Q: What will I need to bring with me on
the day of tryouts?
A: Each participant needs to bring proof
of registration from the North Texas Region and a completed Medical
Release (link on Home Page for Medical Release ). If you have yet to
send payment for registration to the region you must bring a check
or cash to tryouts. If this is your first time trying out please
bring a copy of your birth certificate and be accompanied by a
parent or guardian.
Q: How are tryouts
conducted?
A: Players will be divided
in to age groups to allow specific skills such as passing,
hitting, setting, and blocking to be evaluated. Their will
be a limited amount of team play as well. Ten players will
be chosen for each team.
Q: When will I know if
I made a team?
A: Teams will be posted on
the club website the week following tryouts.
Q: When and where are
practices?
A: Practices are on Sunday
afternoons 2:00 – 4:00 and Wednesday nights 6:30 – 8:30.
There will be no Sunday practice following a Saturday
tournament. Practices begin in December. Practices are
primarily held at Hallsville, Longview and Longview Pine
Tree Schools.
Q: How long does the
season last?
A: The season will run
from December through April for most teams. The first
tournament dates are usually in January.
Q: How many tournaments
will there be and where will they be played?
A: The number varies
depending on the age level, but five to seven for 12’s,
13’s and 14’s and eight to ten for the 15’s, 16’s, 17’s, and
18’s or about two per month is a good guide. Generally
tournaments are in the Dallas area for the younger age
groups. The older age group teams will play tournaments in
Dallas, Austin, Houston and possibly a couple of other
cities which will require overnight stays.
Q: What will my
expenses be in addition to the listed fees?
A: Travel, meals and hotel
expenses are in addition to player fees. The cost of
the coach’s room is split evenly between the team members. Each
team member is responsible for their share of the coach’s
room even if they are absent from the tournament.
Q: Are team members guaranteed equal
amounts of playing time?
A:
The
club does not guarantee a specific amount of playing time in
tournaments, but we ask our coaches to be sensitive to the
amount of playing time each player is receiving. The club
does promote equal practice time for every player. It is our
firm belief that practices build players. How a player does
in practice will certainly impact the amount of court time
received in tournaments. |
